Our Spirituality
Our spirituality is to live steadfastly with hope like Christ in total submission to the Father’s will in our personal and communitarian life, and as we accompany the poor and most vulnerable of the world in the footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi who dedicated his entire life in service to the lowly.
Our Charism
Our Charism as Franciscan Missionaries of Hope is to accept and live the Mystery of Hope that Christ the Lord lived and taught us to share among ourselves as brothers (Ndugus) and transmit it to the people of God in fidelity to His plan of salvation.
Our Purpose
We seek to bring Hope to God’s people by
means of pastoral counseling through the virtue of hospitality, human solidarity and by preaching the word of God.
Our Mission
Faithful to our Charism and mission of hope, we exercise our ministry of evangelization with an attitude of hospitality in parishes, families, hospitals, pastoral counselling centres, and in response to the
needs of the times.
Our Patrons
The patrons of the Institute are St. Francis of Assisi, St. Clare, St. Bonaventure, St. Anthony of Padua and Our Lady Mother of hope and good Counsel.
We seek to bring Hope to God’s people by means of pastoral counseling through the virtue of hospitality, human solidarity and by preaching the word of God.

We adopted the name “Lyke Community” to honor, and in memory of, Archbishop James Patterson Lyke of Atlanta, Georgia. His calm demeanor and love became an inspiration to our founders who had met him when he visited Nairobi, Kenya.
