December 1st and 2nd, 2017, were cheerful and joyful days for the Church and for the Franciscan Missionaries of Hope (Lyke Community). Brothers Augustine Odhiambo and Francis Kariuki professed their Solemn Vows and were ordained transitional deacons at the Resurrection of Our Lord Church, New Orleans.
Presiding over the Mass for Solemn Profession on December 1st, was the Most Rev. Fernand J. Cheri, Auxiliary Bishop of New Orleans Archdiocese. Fr. Michael Thang’wa, the Vicar General of the Franciscan Missionaries of Hope, received thier vows on behalf of Fr. Peter Mallya, the Superior General.
The following day, December 2nd, the two Brothers were ordained deacons by the Most Rev. Gregory M. Aymond, Archbishop of New Orleans Archdiocese.
These celebrations were graced by the presence of family and friends from Kenya and the USA, Brothers of the Franciscan Missionaries of Hope – who graciously welcomed the newly professed Brothers – and the hosting parishioners of the Resurrection of our Lord Parish.
We are grateful to God and to all of you: may God bless you abundantly.
